I am thrilled to be part of a brand new middle school adventure with the Renaissance Program at Highland Lakes! I have been teaching at Highland lakes for seven years, and all three of my daughters attend the school. I am part of the Campus Leadership Team as well as the GEIT Coordinator for middle school. I am highly qualified in Language Arts and Social Studies education.
I hail from a small town outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I received my B.S. ED. from Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, PA where I majored in Education and Literature. Prior to moving to Arizona, I helped to develop and direct a holistic treatment program for adults with mental illness, and directed a mental health program in Philadelphia.
I am married, and my husband Lance works with a nuclear cardiology practice in Phoenix. My daughters are entering fourth, seventh, and eighth grades this year. In my free time, I love to fish and boat- in fact we spend much of the summer on an island in Canada, with a boat as our only transportation! I am also an avid reader, and will devour just about any book placed in front of me- though I like Sci-fi/fantasy the best!
I believe that building positive relationships with students will create successful learners who trust in their own power to make confident decisions. I teach with humor and energy, and try to choose projects that are engaging, but have real-world applications as well.
